It has been entirely too long since I’ve written an update. 2020 was crazy. 2021 has been... busy. In November 2020, I participated in NaNoWriMo again, this time starting a completely new novel: A modern witch fantasy with themes of love, found family, self-love, and environmentalism. It also contains action, spooky graveyards, and cozy romance… Continue reading Imposter Syndrome and the Long Winter

Writing Update
I spent the last few months immersed in writing a new stand-alone fantasy, but I also completely re-wrote my first fantasy book after some helpful suggestions from agents and help from my writing group. I've now gotten several requests for the full manuscript. Yay!
On Writing and Mothering
Lately, when finishing a book, I actually read through the acknowledgements. (My husband tells me that no one actually does this except writers, but I digress…) Anyway, I’ve noticed a trend: The female authors – those with kids – all seem to include a paragraph thanking their spouse profusely for watching the kids sometimes so… Continue reading On Writing and Mothering
Camp Nanowrimo, and Go!
I've been feeling a little down... okay a lot down since Covid-19 started ravaging the world. My family has been isolated for a little over three weeks, and I thought the biggest upside to that would be that I would get a lot of writing done. But alas, I instead felt my mind zapped and… Continue reading Camp Nanowrimo, and Go!

Update
Just want to share a little update on what I'm doing lately. I have a finished novel, which I just began querying. Because I'm querying, I don't want to say too much, but it is a heroine story that involves magic, adventure, secrets, horses, a wild and dangerous forest, love, libraries, and princes. I recently… Continue reading Update
Hyper-Focus: Superpower and Nemesis
When I was a little girl, I often found myself lost. I’d climb a tree and open a book and was transported into other worlds, and our own would fade away. I loved it. I wasn’t actively trying to banish the real world, but I couldn’t help it. I’d read for hours until someone found… Continue reading Hyper-Focus: Superpower and Nemesis
A Little Encouragement
I’m working on my third and fourth novel now, and I recently went back and edited my first. Holy wow. My writing had changed so much since I first started taking this fiction writing plunge a year ago. My first drafts are now coming out better than my second and third drafts and even fourth… Continue reading A Little Encouragement
The Cliffs of Poenitet
I had a little time on my hands so I wrote a poem about a legend from my current novel's fantasy world. Just for fun.
Sheltering in Place
We sit in the dark room silent and scared While our teacher stands by already prepared We wait for the bad man to pass us by But we know if he doesn’t we’ll all surely die Don’t move, they tell us Don’t make a sound The bad man might hear you Then he’ll come around… Continue reading Sheltering in Place
